Columbia, S.C. - May 7, 2009 - Gov. Mark Sanford today issued the following statement on today’s National Day of Prayer:
“Today is a reminder of just how important it is to take a few minutes each day both to thank God for the blessings we enjoy, and to ask for help and guidance for ourselves and those around us,” Gov. Sanford said. “We are remarkably blessed as a nation, but at the same time some very profound needs do exist around us, be it with the effects of the global economic slowdown or with recent disasters like the fires on the eastern side of our state or the tornados on the western side. Whether you choose to mark this occasion publicly or privately, I’d ask every South Carolinian to take just a few minutes to join Jenny, the boys and me in indeed making today a day of prayer for those around us.”
