PRESS RELEASE: Gov. Sanford Names New Appointments to USC Board of Trustees

LEAH MOODY, GREG GREGORY TO SERVE ON BOARD

Columbia, S.C. * September 9, 2009 * Governor Mark Sanford today named Rock Hill attorney Leah B. Moody, and Lancaster businessman Chauncey K. “Greg” Gregory to the University of South Carolina (USC) Board of Trustees.

“Leah and Greg bring a wealth of enthusiasm and solid ideas to this board,” Gov. Sanford said. “For their contributions to the state over the years, and for the continued leadership and insight they’ll offer in this new public role, I’d thank them both for their willingness to serve.”

A practicing attorney in Rock Hill, Leah B. Moody graduated from the USC School of Law and has previously served as Deputy General Counsel to Governor Hodges, Staff Counsel to the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee, and Adjunct Professor for two South Carolina colleges. Moody was a member of the USC Law School Alumni Board, and is also active in her community * currently serving on the Rock Hill School District Three Foundation Board and the Rock Hill Area Chamber of Commerce Board from 2004 to 2007.

A native of Lancaster and a USC graduate, Greg Gregory is President of Builders Supply Company, one of the largest lumber and millwork stockers in the Carolinas. Gregory previously served in the South Carolina State Senate (District 16: Lancaster, York and Fairfield counties), where he was a member of the Senate Education Committee and advocated for government restructuring. Gregory also served on the Education and Economic Development Coordinating Council for three years.
