PRESS RELEASE: Gov. Sanford Joins Red Ventures at Groundbreaking

June 8th, 2010 · admin · No Comments

Columbia, S.C. - June 8, 2010 - Gov. Mark Sanford today joined local leaders and economic developers at the groundbreaking of Red Ventures’ second building at their new facility in Lancaster County. In late 2009 Red Ventures, an online marketing firm, announced it would build a $27 million headquarters facility and create 1,000 new jobs over the next five to seven years.

“Today’s groundbreaking serves as a reminder that South Carolina is making strides even in these challenging economic times,” Gov. Sanford said. “The company’s decision to move its headquarters to South Carolina was an incredible compliment to our state’s business soil conditions, and evidence that we need to continue our efforts to make our state an attractive place to invest or grow a business.

“It’s worth remembering, too, that Red Ventures’ announcement late last year was one of a number of encouraging signs on the economic development front. Indeed we’ve seen five 1,000-plus jobs announcements over just the last few months. Last year our state led the entire Southeast in job recruitment, and Boeing’s decision to land in North Charleston last fall marked the largest economic development announcement in state history. We’ve made strides in rural economic development as well, including six project announcements in Hampton, Allendale, Bamberg and Barnwell Counties totaling 1,139 new jobs. We’ve expanded our state’s QuickJobs training program, led the nation by certifying over 100,000 South Carolinians for Career Readiness, and graduated 94 percent of our Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG-SC) students, easily besting the national standard.”

Red Ventures has four offices and currently more than 700 employees located in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Guatemala.
